Recreational

2024 FALL REC SOCCER REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN

Sign up HERE

The recreational program is open to all ages 4 to 11, regardless of skill. At the younger levels, children play all positions as they learn the basics of the game. The rec program is divided by age and boys and girls play separately (with the exception of our U6 Minis program which is co-ed).

Teams will be formed following the closing of registration, based on registered players and available coach volunteers. If you are interested in coaching or helping the program in any capacity, please register HERE.

PAYSA has a financial assistance program that provides financial support to any family that cannot afford the registration fee.  Our mission is to provide access to all. Please first apply for assistance using our online form and wait for our decision (usually within 1-3 days). If we are able to provide assistance, you will be provided further instructions on how to register.

If you need assistance with the online registration please contact our Registrar at reg@paysasoccer.com

The fall 204 rec age categories are as follows:

U6 Minis. For ages 4 and 5 – Must turn 4 by October 31st. Children participate in fun-filled, 45 minute-long PAYSA Minis clinics on Saturday mornings for one hour (starting at 10am or 11am) for six weeks beginning the weekend after Labor Day weekend in September.  This co-ed program is designed to create a fun learning environment that teaches basic skills through games.  Parents are expected to remain on site for the duration of the clinics. During the team building process, we will separate the U5s (4-year olds) from the U6s (5-year old) so we have U5 teams and U6 teams.  This will allow each age group to grow at a better pace.

U7. For age 6 (1st graders).  We have updated our age grouping so that U7s are on their own. This will allow the U7s to get used to playing organized soccer without the influence of older more experienced players. This program focuses on the very basics of soccer with an emphasis on understanding the game, ball handling and being part of a team.  Players play on a smaller field with goals and the emphasis is on having fun and developing basic skills.  There is a weekly practice and a weekly game.  Games are held on Sunday mornings at Dougherty Field. Parents are expected to stay during practice and game time. Players will be notified of team assignments after registration.

U9. For ages 7 and 8 (U8 and U9 or 2nd and 3rd graders). This program helps children develop a sense of the game, the various positions, and how to work effectively as a team.  Ball handling and basic skill development are a primary focus.  Teams practice once a week and play one game per week (5v5 without goalies) on Sunday mornings at Dougherty Field. Players will be notified of team assignments after registration.

U12. Ages 9-11. This year PAYSA will combine the U10 and U11 divisions (4th & 5th graders) into the U12 division to create a larger division that will consist of more teams than in years past. This program helps players develop a more sophisticated sense of the game, the various positions, and how to work effectively as a team.  Ball handling and basic skill development remain a primary focus.  Teams practice 1-2 times a week and play one game per week (7 v 7 including goalies) on Saturdays. Home games are played at Gerald E. Talbot Community School (former Riverton School).  Players will be notified of team assignments after registration. Practices begin in late August.

REC Equipment Requirements.  Players of all ages are required to have a team shirt, which are provided by PAYSA.  Players must also have socks and shin guards and soft cleated soccer shoes or tennis shoes.  Goalkeepers must have a contrasting color, long sleeve shirt.  Forbidden items include watches, bracelets, necklaces, earrings other than studs, scarves, hooded sweatshirts, metal hair clips of pins.  Soccer balls are provided to each our our U6 players.  U8 players need to bring their own size 3 stitched ball.  U8 & U10 players need to bring their own size 4 ball.

Program Dates. The U6 practices and U12 games take place on Saturdays while U7 and U9 games take place on Sundays.

REFUNDS FOR 2024.  We will require full payment upon registration.  In the event of cancellations, the following refund policy is in place.  Full refunds given if no programming has been initiated.  Within the first two weeks of the season, a 40% refund can be issued if the program is not a fit for your family.  No refunds will be provided after the second weekend of scheduled games.

As always, coaches are needed. PAYSA offers a free education package as well as registration fee waivers.
