Rec Program update for this weekend (10/28-29) – The city has announced that fields will be OPEN this weekend and therefore our last week of rec programming will take place.

The Deering High School Boys Varsity soccer team is looking for ball kids for their upcoming home games at Memorial Stadium. This is a great opportunity to support local soccer and for kids to have fun helping out.

PAYSA wants to ensure that all of our volunteer coaches regardless of experience level have access to professional coach training.
We have coordinated specifically with John Curtis, Director of Coaching for the state of Maine to offer a special course in Portland for our PAYSA recreation coaches. This course is free and will provide games and activities that can be used in your practice. It will model a practice from beginning to end with the ultimate goal of creating a positive player centered environment.
You will learn how to structure a practice according to the PLAY PRACTICE PLAY model. You will get ideas for training sessions and it will be completely hands-on so lace up your cleats or shoes and bring a ball if you have one handy. It will be best if all coach participants have their own ball for the clinic. Coaches and Assistant Coaches are welcome to attend.
