Parents

PAYSA runs through the hard work and kindness of the wonderful group of parents we have in Portland, however we need more help!

Whether you can coach (as an assistant or head coach) or just volunteer a little bit of time in the fall, every hour counts!

The board has spent time over the winter defining some new volunteer roles that will give you a chance to give back to Portland Soccer, and our wonderful players, for the love of the game!

Please review the list of duties HERE.

Can you Coach?

PAYSA offers support and guidance to coaches new and experienced. Please consider volunteering your skills to help our teams with their seasons!

Uniforms

PAYSA is changing its badge, color, and uniforms for the 2024 season! You can see a sneak preview above.

The team will wear “Portland Soccer” on their chests now: proudly supporting the incredible town we all represent.

PAYSA will continue as the legal name of the organization, but we hope that the updated club crest will help kids to show their pride in Portland, and the incredible talents of its soccer players.

This means that new uniforms will be required for every player this year. Please factor this into your plans for the new season.

Language and Financial Assistance

PAYSA believes soccer should be available to all, regardless of financial circumstances. In the registration form, you will be able to select the financial assistance level that is right for you.

For language assistance please contact 303-957-6789 via WhatsApp (English/Español/Français/auto-translate)

We’re looking forward to seeing your skills in the 2024 season!

PAYSA Skills Clinic 4/27 Location Change

Hello PAYSA Families,

We hope you enjoyed the skills clinics opening day activities and meeting your Maine Lightning Coaches!

Please note that we have changed the location of the 4/27 clinics to be outdoors at Dougherty Fields in Portland (85 St. James St.).

The times will remain the same with the first group going 1pm-2pm and the 2nd group going at 2:15 pm – 3:15pm. Going forward, all clinics will be held at the Dougherty Field location as follows according to the original schedule below (*note the morning start times):

Outdoor Dates: Doherty Fields – 85 St. James St. Portland

  • Session 3 – Saturday, May 4th ; 9-10am & 10:15am -11:15am
  • Session 4 – Saturday, May 11th ; 9-10am & 10:15am -11:15am
  • Session 5 –  Saturday, May 18th; 9-10am & 10:15am -11:15am

Rain Date: Saturday, June 1st

*If your player missed week 1, they will need to check in at the table to get their skills tee shirt and a ball. Please arrive early to allow time to check in and get you your field. MLSC coaches will be at the check-in table to gather their group.

*Players who attended week 1 will not need to check in again.

Reminders:

  • Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early so coaches can gather their groups and so sessions may start on time.
  • Please have your player wear their red tee shirt
  • Please have your player bring their ball. It’s best to not write names on the balls as they are more difficult to track. Each player should bring a ball home after each session and bring it back the following session.
  • All players should wear appropriate footwear, shin guards and a water bottle.
  • We kindly ask that parents stay off the playing fields and let our coaches run their groups.
  • Any cancellations due to inclement weather will be communicated as soon as the city closes the fields. See above for the rain date 6/1.

We want to thank you for your patience during week 1.

We appreciate your participation and support of our youth development programs.

Maine Footy

Buy Merch for Maine Footy’s Second Season

The team at Maine Footy and their FEAT Network non-profit eagerly anticipates the Tide’s second season in the United Women’s Soccer League (UWS). They extend their gratitude to the Supporters who joined them at matches, enrichment programs, and various events, as well as their corporate sponsors, founding donors, and partners, whose generosity enabled them to deliver the best possible experience with a high-quality group of players, coaches, staff, and volunteers. And they want to make it even better in 2024!

The team is already coming together and has an exceptional mix of players, featuring both familiar faces from last season and new talents, hailing from diverse local and international backgrounds. To get a glimpse of the roster, be sure check out their Instagram and Facebook pages for action shots and details on players’ hometowns and schools. It’s truly exciting to see players representing areas like Falmouth, Gorham, Wells and Monmouth, as well as countries across the globe such as France, Norway, Lebanon, Croatia, and the UK.

With most of the team residing at St. Joseph’s College, where they also train three times a week, they’ll have ample opportunity to give back to the community through mentorship, clinics, podcasts, and more when they’re not on the pitch. Stay tuned for the detailed schedule, set to be released in April, which will include matches at Deering’s Memorial Stadium throughout May, June, and July, along with other exciting events. As the demand for these events, especially at the end of June, is high, they will be giving priority access to Supporters, underscoring their commitment to building a vibrant community around Maine Footy.

Additionally, with each purchase of Maine Footy Supporter merchandise, you gain access to all home games as your merch doubles as a season ticket! 100% of the proceeds from the merch are directed to Maine Footy enrichment programs and donations within our community, contributing to nutrition, leadership, mentorship, confidence building, and more!

Order now to ensure that your Supporter’s merchandise arrives at your home before the season starts. If you miss the March window to become a Supporter, they will aim to have some gear available at the first match. If not, there will be a $20 per person donation on match day. If buying merchandise is significant hurdle, they are partnering with various organizations to make this gift possible.
